Writers Embrace Collaboration

The Long Beach Literary Arts Center held its first literary mixer at the Ruth Bach branch of the Long Beach Public Library on April 21. Though most mixers include cocktails (and our future mixers might!), what better place to gather writers together than a library?

About a dozen people gathered to discuss their passion for the literary arts. The two-hour mixer included brainstorming, frustration sharing and the opportunity to connect and collaborate with fellow reader-writers. Turns out, writers have a lot to say to each other and we all had a lot of fun.

Ruth Bach Library was an excellent host and we plan to continue the collaboration with Long Beach libraries. We plan on holding these free community mixers quarterly, so stay tuned for the next event in the summer. (We'll try not to compete with a big event like the LA Time Festival of Books next time...but it was great to host a literary event here in our own backyard!)

The Beachcomber wrote an excellent article on the event, which you can read here. Thanks to everyone who joined us, and we look forward to seeing you at the next one! (4/28/18)
